Thy will be done-SUBMIT!

I have prayed to God asking what my role is in this big world and he has guided me with answers in the form of dreams, words, gentle nudges, and blatant signs. The thing is I don’t pray for a good day. I don’t pray for my favorite dinner. I usually don’t even pray for me at all. What do I pray for? His will be done.

Matthew 6:9-13 Jesus said “Therefore you should pray like this: Our Father in Heaven, Your name be honored as holy (Hallowed be thy name). Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today (this day) your daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.”

This is the version of the “Lord’s Prayer” in my bible but the older version (in parentheses) is ingrained in my head so I just can’t change it. Short version or interpretation: *God u are awesome and know what is up– so YOUR WILL BE DONE, just as it is done currently in HEAVEN. Make sure we have food today, forgive us of our stupidity and we will forgive others stupidity, and keep us away from evil. For yours is all glory forever and ever.

Jesus even got the prayer perfect.

The more I ask in prayer the more I receive, albeit not always the answer I want. If it is not the answer I want, how can I disregard? ….It is HARD I TELL YOU! Sometimes it is sooo hard if he is telling you YES cleaning the toilets is exactly what I want you to do today! Sometimes its hard when he says that person who is annoying you thoroughly is who I want you to serve today.  Sometimes his will is not the easy path, the pretty path, or the fun path. I want to yell out “It is not fair! I don’t want this plan!”  But that is the difference between asking for his will versus my will. There are no luxurious bubble baths promised in the bible. Maybe that is why it is clearest for me to hear him when my plan and his plan differ? I begrudgingly say okay, I asked- you answered…but are you sure? Ha-ha-ha! Of course he is sure ya dope, HE IS GOD.

So God is saying basically what he says goes, because he knows best and I know very little. Very humbling, very submissive. However, in submitting to HIS WILL we get a more precious gift then if we were thinking up the gift. I might be thinking the road needs repair, he is thinking streets of GOLD with jewels EVERYWHERE! We can not even begin to fathom what he has in store for us!

Be submissive and humble. Pray. And if you are unsure what to pray, try the Lord’s Prayer. His will, not yours.

I admit I do not always understand, and I surely do not always want to. But I am going to press “Submit” now in every way.
